Paul R. Huard

Teacher at Ashland High School, Oregon, USA, a participant in Curriculum Development Project: On Ukraine organized by the Davis Center of Harvard University in partnership with the Center for Urban History in 2024. He is a graduate of California Baptist University (B.A. cum laude) and The Claremont Graduate University (M.A.), where his studies emphasized 20th Century diplomatic and military history including World War II and the Cold War.

Before becoming a schoolteacher, Paul R. Huard worked for more than 20 years as a newspaper reporter covering the United States national government and the U.S. military for daily newspapers in California and Oregon. His career also included grant-funded overseas assignments to report on Estonia’s role in NATO and the legacy of the Spanish Civil War.

Since the outbreak of the full-scale war by Russia against Ukraine in 2022, Paul R. Huard has spent most of his summer breaks volunteering in Poland and Ukraine to assist Ukrainian refugees and people suffering from the effects of the war.
