Iryna Skubii

Historian, PhD candidate at the Department of History at Queen’s University in Kingston (Canada), where she is developing her doctoral project on the history of consumption, materiality and the environment during Soviet famines in Ukraine. Previously, she obtained a Candidate of Sciences Degree in History with a specialization in the history of Ukraine from V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (Kharkiv, Ukraine) and published the monograph on trade and business practices in Kharkiv in the 1920s, during the New Economic Policy (1921–1929). Scientific interests include economic and social history, the history of consumption and material culture, famines and the environment.
